A savage bomb blast ripped through a flyover near Lal Chowk in Srinagar on March 19, injuring about 15 people. The blast took place near a famous fruit market, a busy area filled with late evening crowd. The fruit market is located near the J&K High Court and the state secretariat. About 11 of the injured have been shifted to nearby hospitals. If this is not enough, banned militant outfit Hizbul Mujahideen has claimed responsibility for the blast. A Hizbul spokesperson called a local news agency to claim the responsibility.
In recent months the Kashmir valley has been comparatively peaceful. Two to three years ago, valley was marred by frequent blasts. The bomb strike has taken place after a long time. Geelani had talked about the non-cooperation with the elections and an effective way to route it out. Well, terrorists have now become so fearless that they can attack any place and can claim responsibility for the same. An utterly outrageous thing is that the police is now negligible when it comes to action and implementation of peace. I wonder if this continues, how far the country would continue to be “safe”.
