very right. i too find a saree most appealing as it helps women flaunt all her curves perfectly.but still i prefer to wear jeans as it lasts long and is comfortable in moving around. Maintaining a saree is another big problem. I take atleast 4-5 mins to fold it but with jeans it is only a matter of few seconds.

Yves Carcelle need not be surprised. The saree indeed is the most elegant dress. hot or not , there is nothing in the western dress to compare it.

Can there be any attire more gorgeous than the sari? As evidenced by this article and even otherwise the sari has definitely risen to a global status. Come to think of its versatility… it can be worn in the most traditional of ways and in the most modern of ways. The personality and creativity of the wearer is the only discerning factor! Is there any other attire that comes in so many hues, designs and materials and styles than the sari? Unlike other attires it suits any body type on earth….surely a costume with a universal appeal.

I like the traditional appeal attached to it. Many a times in functions, we love to wear the sari and it itself is a big affair. I am an ardent fan of the sari. Really makes one look more beautiful and traditional.

the Indian woman cant look better in any other attire than in a saree. the saree is sensuous,s exy and very very elegant as well. yeah, it is a bit of a ahssle for unaccustomed people to move around in them, but there cant be any reason why we cant wear them on special occasions. sarees are something that will never go out of fashion.

Sensuous, elegant, sexy, appealing......Can you guess which outfit i’m talking about? Yups, I’m talking about saree? Whatever outfit comes in trend, saree can never go out of fashion. Now the world’s biggest luxury brand is coming up with its own line of apparel...So gals, make some place in your wardrobe. i’m sure, you won’t be able to stop yourself from buying them as soon these hit the market shelves.

I am fond of lehangas and thought of investing in one elegantly embroidered one recently, but by then I had already invested in a highly expensive and gorgeous sari the same time. As I was regretting my choice there was this friend of mine who showed me to drape the sari making it look like a lehenga with a gorgeous flair. It did really look good.

and yes mayuri, the process of wearing a traditional sari and decking up can be real fun...but then u know i loose my temper when i don’t get the pleats and pallu right the first time. tch tch!

You make it sound like a new happening when at least since 6 months Hermes has made sari an inspiration and Liz Hurley decided to dawn it for her d day so I guess sari is a global object of desire by now and why not? One can look anything they want to in these 6 yards of fabric!

why only six months ha!ha!...hollywood stars like madonna and Goldie hawn have been donnig it for years now. For that matter the sari is a wardrobe item for many of the commoners of the western crowd for years...and it is out of sheer pleasure and nothing else that some people share personal experiences.

Of course the interpretation of any message has got more to do with the mindset of the reader...there’s nothing more to say

I agree. Why only six months? I guess the Indian fashion counterpart is something which has captured the market for ages. Celebs, fashion gurus, be it national or international have always adhered to it. Its always a gala time in my family when me and my cousins decide to wear saree on a function, be it on durga puja or some other occasion.
